Crockett and Jones SS15 collection
Words: Charlie Thomas
Season after season, Crockett and Jones seem to outdo themselves. One of the oldest shoemakers in England, their attention to detail and expert craftsmanship is second to none, resulting in some of the finest shoes money can buy.
Having established their brand in 1879, Crockett & Jones are celebrating their 136th year and this heritage can be seen in all that they do. Traditional, time-honoured shoemaking techniques are utilised to full effect, ensuring that when you purchase a pair of their shoes you know they’ll last a lifetime.
For their spring/summer 2015 collection, the Northampton brand have remained faithful to their roots and produced a truly timeless array of shoes. For office wear, the Beaumont is about as good as it gets. A classic Oxford, it features perforations on the toe and a slim, balmoral silhouette which will sit perfectly under a tailored suit.
Perforations are again present in the Cobham, which features punch-hole detailing on the toe and along the side of the shoe. It’s a single monk strap design with a hand-finished silver buckle and a single leather sole. Our favourite shoe of the collection though is the Harvard. Perhaps the perfect loafer, the timeless ‘penny’ design lends itself to both formal and casual attire. Available in burnished chestnut calf or a deep navy, it’s arguably the quintessential summer shoe.
Elsewhere in the collection, the Ebury is a particular highlight. A double-monk spectator shoe, it’s as eccentric as it is classy – perfect for a summer soiree or two. The Hartland will also please those whose style falls on the casual end of the spectrum, with its two-eyelet chukka design.
