A first in 145 years, Crockett & Jones releases a collection of small leather goods
Having made its name in world-class footwear, the Northampton venture dips its toe into a new pursuit

For the first time in its existence, Crockett & Jones, the storied shoemaker known for its reliable Goodyear-welted designs, has decided to dip its toe into another pursuit – crafting small leather goods. It’s a move that’s not out of key with the label’s style – these accessories are, after all, intended to sit alongside and complement the collection of shoes and boots – and, as with the footwear, only the finest leathers from the best European tanneries have been chosen.
Notably, leathers that are used in the Main and Hand Grade Collection make an appearance here, too. There’s Willow Grain, a linear grain known for its fantastic definition; Hurricane Hide, a pull-up leather beloved for its compact fibre structure that ensures longevity; and Rough-Out Suede, a material that Crockett & Jones pioneered in the 1980s and, because of its waterproof qualities, can be roughed up over time, resulting in a unique exterior. Shell Cordovan, dubbed the connoisseur’s choice, is revered for being hard-wearing yet flexible. And Smooth Calf makes for a timeless, failsafe option. ‘By using the finest upper leathers available, our new collection of leather goods will age well as they take on the natural patina of life,’ states the brand.

For the creation process, the leather sections are cut in-house before being sent to specialist producers in the UK, with each piece produced to the meticulous standards required by the brand. A dark-green leather lining is added and expert stitching is applied.
In terms of options, there are three wallet variations available…
Billfold Wallet
The largest of the selection, the Billfold Wallet can accommodate six to eight cards, it has two slip pockets, and there’s a full-width opening for notes. This is ideal for those who still believe that cash is king.
Folded Card Case
Slim and trim, this mid-sized piece can hold between three to six cards. The gusseted pocket, which can expand, is intended for folded notes.
Card Holder
Rounding things out is the Card Holder. It’s pared-down, can slip easily into your coat or trouser pocket, has room for four to eight cards, folded notes can be slotted into the central pocket – and, perhaps best of all, it not only goes well with leather shoes, but it makes a great partnership with a stocking.
