Daily style mistakes you don’t realise you’re making
Words: Alex Woodhall
Menswear is a minefield. Old school rules and modern trends are perpetually colliding to muddy the waters on what’s right or wrong with your wardrobe. One minute athletic wear is abhorrent anywhere outside the gym, and now wearing trainers with a suit is borderline ok – even outside of the narrow corridors of the fashion industry. There are certain missteps, however, that have never and will never emerge triumphant from the darkest, deepest crevices of men’s style, yet are seeing the light of day all too often.
Overstuffing your pockets
The decreasing depth of the modern smartphone has become somewhat of a sartorial boon. The bygone chunky hunks of electronics were once the bane of trouser and jacket pockets everywhere, as they jutted out at every angle and ruined an otherwise clean line.
The problem persists though as men insist on using their pockets as a primary source of storage for absolutely everything they have on them at any one point. If you insist on using a billfold wallet chock full of receipts, loyalty cards and expired coupons, then you need to invest in something to carry it around in. The same goes for a set of keys – if yours ape those of the janitor at a local comprehensive, it may be best to keep them out of your pockets and find a bag to stow them away.
