Cocktails that will cure your hangover
Words: Charlie Thomas
After a heavy night, the last thing you’ll likely want to do is drink more alcohol. It’s scientifically proven though (probably), that doing so is the easiest way to rid a hangover. If you go down this route you won’t want something reminiscent of the night before, however. Instead, something a little different or unusual should help you forget that pounding headache. Here are 3 cocktails that will cure your hangover.
BLOODY MARY
The go-to hangover cocktail, the Bloody Mary has been a loyal pick-me-up for decades. It’s hearty, spicy bite is an acquired taste, but you can hardly taste the alcohol provided the measures are correct, meaning it shouldn’t be overlooked.
The ingredients: 60 ml vodka, 120 ml tomato juice, 2 drops of tabasco, 2 drops Worcestershire sauce, 1 pinch salt, 1 pinch ground, black pepper, 1 pinch smoked paprika, 2 lime wedges, 1 lemon wedge, 1 celery stick
HAIR OF THE DOG
The name kind of gives this one away. Inspired by the very thing which gave birth to its existence, this easy-to-drink, sweet-yet-satisfying concoction is well worth a try.
The ingredients: 120 ml whisky, 60 ml honey, 60 ml cream
SCREWDRIVER
When mixing or choosing your own cocktail on a hangover, you’ll want simplicity, and you just can’t beat a good old vodka and orange juice. Ensure that the juice is fresh, giving you that vitamin C boost that you need.
The ingredients: 60 ml vodka, 120 ml orange juice
