Cocktail of the Week: The Royal Blush
To mark the start of the flat season, why not try Royal Ascot's signature cocktail?
Words: Jonathan Wells
Tomorrow marks the start of the flat season and, to celebrate in true, quintessentially British style, Royal Ascot has launched a bespoke cocktail to mark the milestone.
With raspberries, rhubarb and good old fashioned gin in the mix, this is the perfect tipple with which to perch by the course and sip whilst you clean up from Royal Ascot to QIPCO British Champions Day.
But, if you want to recreate this ‘summer in a highball’ elsewhere, here is the exclusive recipe for the most regal cocktail you’ll make this year.
Begin with a polished 16oz glass, and use tongs to fill it with cubed ice a third of the way. Next, place one half circle of lemon and one raspberry in the glass – and add two measures of Beefeater Gin. Top up with lemonade.
Pour half a measure of rhubarb syrup – the racecourse recommend Funkin brand, add more lemon and raspberries, and finish with a straw. Then sit back, wait for the gates to open, and toast your inevitable win.
