Cocktail of the Week: The Perfect Storm
Batten down the hatches and shiver your timbers with this nautical tipple
The Dark ’N’ Stormy has been a stalwart of the cocktail menu since the 1860s.
Since then, it has been tossed and turned across the oceans of time, with the rums and measures changing dependent upon the port into which you sail.
The Perfect Storm is the latest iteration of this seafarer’s tipple, and makes use of Kraken Black Spiced Rum – a spirit named for the legendary sea monster of Scandinavian legend.
Kraken’s latest twist on the Dark ’N’ Stormy comes as the brand launches a new limited bottle – a glossy black, betentacled ceramic edition.
To create The Perfect Storm, fill a highball glass with ice, and add two measures of Kraken – where its cinnamon, vanilla, cherry and coffee notes will awaken when chilled.
Next, top up with ginger beer, and stir for twenty seconds or so with a long-handled bar spoon. Cut a generous wedge of lime, slightly score the zest and drop into the glass.
