Cocktail of the Week: The Virgin Island Paradise
Taking inspiration from Creed’s signature scent, this is the must-try cocktail from 34 Mayfair
Words: Gentleman's Journal
Several weeks ago, we published an article that asked why men seemed to be shy when it came to trying cocktails. Pink drinks, anything with a silly name, and any cocktail that comes in an oddly-shaped glass seem to be run from by the modern man. But he’s missing a trick, we argued, and jotted down some of the fruitiest, tropically-named cocktails that men should try. And now we’ve got another to add to that list.
Yes, it may have the word ‘paradise’ in its name, but the Virgin Island Paradise is strong, bold and flavourful. After partnering with luxury fragrance experts, The House of Creed, to bring the Virgin Islands to Mayfair this summer, Grosvenor Square grill 34 Mayfair brought to life this fresh and exciting cocktail to see out summer.
To create the drink at home, start with two kumquats. Chop the fruit and muddle it thoroughly in a cocktail shaker. Add 35ml Yaguara Cachaca, 20ml Italicus liqueur and 10ml of sugar syrup. After a brief stir, throw in 15ml of lime juice, 50ml of coconut water and 40ml of cooled Jasmine tea. Shake well, and strain into a rocks glass over two large ice cubes.
Create a lime twist to garnish, and enjoy. But take note, at 34 Mayfair the cocktail is served with a special ylang ylang spray – so if you want to drink it in all its tropical glory, pop down to Grosvenor Square today.
