Chopard – Jeweller to the Stars

Chopard – Jeweller to the Stars

Chopard - TGJ.01

Awards season. A time when the famous, glamourous and gifted (sometimes) of the world unite to celebrate, well, each other. What we see if the final product. The tuxedos, dresses, diamonds and botox. What we don’t see is the madness before the awards, the fierce competition for the top brands to have their designs worn by the top players of Tinseltown.

Chopard, the exclusive Swiss jeweller and watch maker, is one of the brands leading this race. Originally founded by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in 1860, this family owned company is one of the few that offer luxury jewellery and both quartz and mechanical luxury timepieces.

Such is Chopard’s association with film awards ceremonies that they have actually been the official partner of Cannes Film Festival for the past 16 years. Both so synonymous with glamour, luxury and excellence, when it comes to sponsorships, they are the perfect match . Chopard not only design multiple awards, those of which include the Palme d’Or, a stunning 118 gram yellow gold prize worth more than €20,000 that is awarded for the best film. Chopard’s presence is always visable on the bodies of the guests as well, with Cara Delevingne, Julianne Moore, Lea Seydoux, Uma Thurman, Marion Cotilliard and Erin Heatherton all sporting the designs at the this years proceedings.

Of course, Chopard’s dedication to innovation and beauty is showcased at other award ceremories too. With notable presence at Venice Film Festival and the Academy Awards where Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Winslet and Christina Hendricks wore Chopard jewellery. In fact, with Lawrence wearing the jeweller as she was awarded the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role, this took Chopard’s tally up to eleven nominees to win at the awards adorned in their creations. Other winners include Charlize Theron in 2004, Helen Mirren in 2007 and Penelope Cruz in 2009. However, it is not only women. Colin Firth chose a Chopard LUC XPS watch as his timepiece of choice when he won the Oscar for The King’s Speech in 2011 and Michel Hazanavicius did the same when he won Best Director for The Artist last year.

Chopard association with film and film stars has existed since their inception and continues to the same standard today (Chopard recently featured as the official jeweller of the biopic Diana (2013)). Magnificence, elegance and authenticity; it can only be Chopard.
