The fifth model in the six-part “Les Légendes de Bugatti” (Bugatti Legends) editions, has been revealed and what a car it is! For this model, Bugatti have revived the legendary Type 18 “Black Bess”, which went down in automotive history as one of the first ever street legal super sports cars. The Type 18 was one of the most important Bugattis of the pre-war era, both ahead of its time and in a league of its own thanks to its impressive technical features. It will come as no surprise then that the Black Bess is a pretty impressive machine.
The penultimate Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse “Legends” model will be limited to an exclusive three units and features a carbon fiber body painted in black with gold accents. Inside, the car is beautifully upholstered in a pale beige with a crimson coloured steering wheel. Beyond this, the car also features real 24-karat gold details throughout. The dash panel, dashboard, cowl panel and door trim panel are made of Havanna leather and the door panels feature the Type 18 “Black Bess” and the Morane Saulnier Type H sketches of the airplane that belonged to Roland Garros – one of the seven people who bought the original Black Bess.
Bugatti will showcase the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Black Bess starting April 20 in China at the 2014 Beijing Motor Shows. Obviously this kind of luxury comes at a price, with the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse “Black Bess” coming in at a cool €2.15 million.
