Tropical Saint Lucia has long been a hit with holidaymakers – from sunseekers seduced by sparkling warm waters and unspoilt beaches to keen hikers looking to explore the island’s mountainous terrain to foodies who flock for creative Creole cuisine.
However, it’s only recently that the small yet spirited island of Saint Lucia, a jewel in the Caribbean's crown, has become a go-to for golfers. And it's all thanks to a newly opened course at Cap Estate on 375 acres of the island’s northern peninsula.
After three years in development, Point Hardy Golf Club at Cabot Saint Lucia opened in December 2023. In a few short months, the latest site from luxury residential, resort and golf course developer Cabot has become the name on every discerning golfer's lips, fast gaining a reputation as one of the world’s most sought-out golf destinations. In fact, it has already found its way into the Top 100 Golf Courses list. It’s no surprise, given its dramatic location and staggering views.
Perched high above the Atlantic Ocean on craggy cliffs along 1.5 miles of coastline, Point Hardy Golf Club makes the most of its stunning natural surroundings. Each of the eighteen holes takes on the unique topography of the site, with the course woven through lush terrain, over rocky outcrops and along tropical bays and sandy beaches. Nine of the holes play along the ocean, necessitating some seriously thrilling promontory-hopping hero shots that make for one of the Caribbean's most unique golfing experiences.
Designers Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw (golf course architect and professional golfer respectively) carefully navigated the site by paying attention to what was already there. “The elevation change and the broken shoreline: you have to start there to lay out the holes,” says Coore. “Mother Nature basically, on a shoreline like this, tells you where the holes are going to be, what the links are going to be, what the sequence is going to be.” Crenshaw adds: “In a nutshell, we try to build holes where we find them and link them up together. We really don’t care about numerical sequences”.
If a visit to Cabot Saint Lucia leaves you yearning for more, you’re in luck: Point Hardy Golf Club is just the tip of the iceberg. Beyond its status as a world-class golf destination, Cabot Saint Lucia offers once-in-a-lifetime real estate opportunities that combine the magic of island living with a strong sense of community.
Luxury homes start from $6 million and prospective buyers can choose from lots – ranging from hill-top sites with sweeping panorama views to beachfront lots – or move-in-ready turnkey residences complete with land, home and furnishings.
All lots and turnkey residences enjoy close proximity to Point Hardy Golf Club, as well as an array of amenities – from health and wellness offerings that include a spa, fitness facilities and sports programs to restaurants (there are three on-site dining locations), a beach club and the Cabot boutique.
Of course, residents can also capitalise on the island's natural splendour with destination-specific adventures. There's no shortage of options, from water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, and kite surfing to inland adventures like rainforest walks, zip-lining and climbing the Pitons – two mountainous volcanic spires that punctuate Saint Lucia's landscape.
The island of Saint Lucia boasts a host of luxury residences and resorts in an other-wordly setting, but Cabot Saint Lucia offers an experience like no other. Despite only being in its first few months of operation, it is already proving to be a dream destination. And as the property fills up and more players get to experience the course, now is the time to express interest before it's too late.
