How long left, ref? We examine Breitling’s latest Six Nations watches

With discreet touches that nod to each competing country, this rugby-themed series is wearable throughout the championship and beyond

For the fourth year now, Breitling is the official timekeeper of the Six Nations, and for 2025’s competition – which is about to hit its third round, following a week-long break – the Swiss watchmaker has released a flush new set of wristwear in homage to the great highlight of the rugby calendar. There are two models available: the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 mm, and the Chronomat 32 mm three-hand, for women, with both available in six distinct variants for the competing squads – England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy.

Each design showcases a textured dial whose horizontal pattern (a nod to the lines on a pitch) alternates between matte and brushed finishes – the result is a wonderful effect when hit by light. Moreover, with regards to the 40mm model, which is limited to 250 pieces, the dial bears the nation’s name in the local language, a feature made all the more striking as it’s written in a contrasting colour. The Wales edition, for example, has ‘Cymru’ written in a peachy hue that stands out against the main red colourway. Moreover, the multi-timezone function is there so that fans can keep track of game times around the world, and the Chronomat’s traditional features remain, such as the rouleaux bracelet. To further emphasise the games, the caseback is engraved with the relevant union crest (we, of course, rather like the rose) and the words: ‘Six Nations Rugby’ and ‘One of 250’. “You can feel the energy of rugby’s greatest championship, and all six unions in these limited editions”, said Breitling CEO Georges Kern.
