The Ultimate Boys’ Night – The Blues Kitchen
Words: Violet
Meat lovers assemble! If you are in search of a reasonably priced burger, a sumptuous full rack of ribs or a feast of tender chicken to enjoy on a night out with the boys, then look no further. The location? The Blues Kitchen. Situated in the heart of Camden, this live music venue, southern diner and Bourbon bar offers a taste of the Deep South without having to step a foot outside the capital.
The Blues Kitchen do American street food – a cuisine that is very much en-vogue and taking off in London – very well. Open booths, deconstructed wood and restored metal decorate the interior of this restaurant, creating a vibe that continues at the bar and onto the tables. If you are a whisky guy, your night is guaranteed to start off well as The Blues Kitchen specialises in Bourbon and Rye. With over 100 varieties to temp your taste buds, you will be sure to find one that leaves you with that familiar warmth in your stomach and a smile on your face. Of course, if whisky isn’t your tipple of choice, there is a wide selection of drinks also on offer, those of which include refreshing craft beers and innovative cocktails.
Even though it is still reasonably early days for The Blues Kitchen, the eatery is already renowned for putting on speciality night and events. The Rib Festival combines their love of blues music and top quality meat to bring you an All-American night to remember (and not just because you will be full for several days after). Inviting the countries best rib chefs to join forces throughout January and February, The Blues Kitchen has put on nights including: Prairie Fire BBQ, The Rib Man, Grill Stock and, due to take place on 10th February, DJ BBQ. These nights have celebrated everything from smokey to hot rib sauces and if you are a fan of the BBQ (who isn’t?), then it’s seriously worth stopping by for a bite. The fun doesn’t stop with the mains either. On my trip down to The Blues Kitchen, me and my guest enjoyed the tortilla chips with spinach, artichoke and parmesan dip and crispy alligator to start. Then came the mains. Make sure you bring your appetite because after finishing our rack of ribs, crispy chicken and sweet potato fries, we needed a moment to rest and reflect. As Joey from Friends would say, ‘here come the meat sweats..’
These are stateside portions for an affordable price and the good times will keep on rolling with their Monday Rib Night. Two pork ribs and two beef ribs, slow-cooked, juicy and delicious.
