Boxing: 5 Fights We’d Love To See

Boxing: 5 Fights We’d Love To See

It’s official, the hotly anticipated Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout is on. Arguably the two best pound for pound fighters in the world, possibly ever, will be duking it out at the MGM Grand in a fight that could gross $400million. The contest has been rumoured for years and one all boxing fans have been looking forward to. Here are 5 other fights we’d absolutely love to see happen at some point or another…

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO VS. VITALI KLITSCHKO

KlitsckoKlitschko

Vitali may have retired for political office but we still harbour home the two heavyweight brothers will join each other in the ring. Vitali holds the second highest knockout percentage of any heavyweight whilst Wladimir has the most heavyweight defences and is the longest reigning IBF, WBA, WBO & IBO champion in history. In short, it would be a fight for the ages.

AMIR KHAN VS. FLOYD MAYWEATHER, JR.

MayweatherKhan

Once Mayweather gets done with the Pacquiao circus, we’d wouldn’t mind see him take on our very own Amir Khan in the ring. Khan’s called the Moneybags out a few times and there’s a lot of hope that the two could come to an agreement before they’re past their prime.

GENNADY GOLOVKIN VS. MIGUEL COTTO

CottoGolovkin

Golovkin, or GGG as he is known, is one of the most feared fighters on the circuit right now; he holds the highest knockout ratio of any middleweight in history. 32 wins from 32 fights and 29 of them by knockout is a frightening record, right now Puerto Rican fighter Cotto is the only one in the weight division who would even stand a chance against the Kazakh.

KELL BROOK VS. AMIR KHAN

KhanBrook

Amir Khan clearly wants to take on one of the big two of Manny or Floyd, but an all-British showdown between him and Sheffield’s Kell Brook is definitely on the cards at some point. Brook’s dispatched a number of dangerous opponents in his career but Khan could be too much for the current welterweight IBF champion.

JULIO CÉSAR CHÁVEZ, JR. VS. CANELO ALVAREZ

CaneloChavez

Two former Mexican champions, this all South American showdown could come at middleweight and would be a dream fight, there aren’t two Mexican boxers bigger than these two right now. Golovkin wants to fight both, supposedly, but for now, we’d much rather see these two go 12 rounds before GGG runs the rule over either.
