The boat race video: a new chapter begins
Words: Patrick
An action-packed, adrenaline-fuelled weekend of sport lies ahead – long-standing traditions which yield new twists and turns annually. The BNY Mellon Boat Race between Cambridge and Oxford, first raced in 1829, is surely the pinnacle of this. Broken oars, restarts, coming togethers, protestors in the water… an air of unpredictability accompanies every stroke – it’s why we love it.
And this year is even more special than ever, as for the first time the women’s teams will race on the same day as the men’s, over the same four-mile stretch of the mighty Thames.
To commemorate the occasion, the event’s official partner Hunter have produced a beautiful film that highlights the time and physical demands of training, and the significance of this new chapter in The Newton Women’s Boat Race and the sport’s history. We for one, can’t wait!
And there’s another first… Every year, Hunter creates Official Boat Race Boots, worn by competitors in training, and this year these styles for men and women will be available to purchase. For more information, see here.
