The best watches of Watches and Wonders 2014

Every year the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is transformed into a watch lover’s paradise. Watches & Wonders welcomes the world’s horological experts, enthusiasts and collectors to China, where some of the outrageous, and in most cases stunning, timepieces are unveiled. This year was no exception, so here are some of our favourite releases.

MONTBLANC METAMORPHOSIS II , , With releases like the TimeWalker Extreme Chronograph DLC, Montblanc have already cemented their position within the watch world’s elite. However, it’s timepieces like the Metamorphosis II that really mark them out as a force to be reckoned with. This watch has the unique ability to completely transform its face, which is activated by the slider on the left hand side. Its regulator sub-dials retract, revealing yet two more dials underneath. It’s an ingenious design.

IWC HAND-WOUND PORTUGUESE AND PORTOFINO, , IWC had two mammoth releases at Watches & Wonders, in the form of the Portuguese Hand-Wound Eight Days and the Portofino Hand-Wound Big Date. Both watches feature IWC’s trademark classical styling and manually wound movements, which lend them a vintage charm that collector’s are bound to love.

A. LANGE & SOHNE LANGE 1 ANNIVERSARY SET, , The Lange 1 is arguably A. Lange & Sohne’s finest achievement since their rebirth in 1994. This year marks their 20th anniversary, and to celebrate such a milestone the Glashutte brand have announced this special edition set, featuring one male and one female watch.
