The Best Moments of The Grammys
Words: Violet
We take a look at the best (and most bizarre) moments of The Grammys 2014…
BEY & JAY-Z STEAL THE SHOW
Giving a seriously raunchy performance of Beyonce’s ‘Drunk in Love’
BEYONCE’S DRESS
…and those Curves.
THE BEATLES HALF-REUNION
50% of a Beatles Reunion – former Beatles members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr teamed up to perform on stage. After Starr performed a solo act of “Photographer” earlier in the night, he joined McCartney to play drums during his song “Queenie Eye.”
JAY-Z AND THE GOLDEN ‘SIPPY CUP’
Jay-Z lifted up his golden gramophone and told the audience that he wanted to “tell Blue, ‘Look, Daddy got a gold sippy cup for you!'”
LORDE WINS BEST POP SOLO PERFORMANCE FOR ‘ROYALS’
The 17 year old gave a very humble acceptance speech, thanking Joel Little and adding that he “nurtured me through my first years of songwriting…I will forever owe him. Thank you for everyone who has let the song explode – it’s been mental.”
TAYLOR SWIFT’S INEXPLICABLE HEAD BANGING
…mid song – which has also been brilliantly referred to over the internet as ‘piano sex’.
GET LUCKY WINS BEST SINGLE
The soundtrack to last summer – we can’t think of a better winner.
34 WEDDINGS OFFICIATED WHILST MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS PERFORM ‘SAME LOVE’
The mass wedding took place as the band performed ‘Same Love’. Queen Latifah officiated proceedings as the couples stood on platforms away from the stage exchanging rings. Madonna then joined Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on stage to sing Open Your Heart while Katy Perry caught a bouquet thrown into the audience. Even country singer Keith Urban was seen wiping away tears during the ceremony. You couldn’t make this stuff up.
KENDRICK LAMAR & IMAGINE DRAGONS REMIX
…of MAAD City and Radioactive which turned out to be the best song of the night – if not year so far.
…AND TAYLOR SWIFT DANCING TO IT
Not content with her own head banging – have a little youtube as the picture doesn’t do it justice.
AND FINALLY….
PHARRELL’S HAT
…so terrible, it only makes us love him more. We can’t wait for the memes to start coming out all over the internet.
