Such is the ever-increasing length of the Formula One season, that another one is now right around the corner. Indeed, the teams have now begun pre-season testing in Jerez, offering up a number of exciting stories for both press and the public. Perhaps the most exciting of all though was the unveiling of the cars themselves, especially considering the controversies surrounding last year’s oddly shaped nose-cones. Thankfully, this year’s F1 cars are far better looking on the whole.
MCLAREN HONDA MP4-30
McLaren have this year teamed up with Honda, which had many hoping that a similar livery to the Senna/Prost era would prevail. Despite this not being the case, the new McLaren is our pick of the bunch thanks to its slick black and grey colour scheme. Hopefully it drives as good as it looks…
MERCEDES WO6
Last year’s championship winning car has received a number of aesthetic updates including a new front wing and extra aero additions to the side pods.
LOTUS E23
Lotus still has one of the best liveries – it’s black and gold combination is an iconic one. The new tapered nose is a welcome update too…
FERRARI SF15-T
Perhaps the most instantly recognisable of the bunch is the distinctive red Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel. The long nose protrudes over the wing, potentially increasing downforce but it could also be interesting when overtaking.
WILLIAMS FW36
Again, with the Williams all the talk has been with the front nose. It’s one of the only cars to feature a three-prong design, although it’s far more refined that last year’s.
