If there are two things that rarely go hand-in-hand, it’s environmentally sound and aesthetically pleasing; one just doesn’t lend itself to the other – that was until pioneering yacht yard Arcardia picked up the eco-friendly mantle.
The Italian firm tailor their boats to be ethical as well as beautiful, something we can certainly get behind. Introducing the Arcadia 85, one of the best looking eco-friendly yacht to date.
Sitting 85-feet long, the vessel is powered by twin MAN diesel R6-730hp engines and an array of solar panels. The shape of the hull keeps the power intake low in comparison to a yacht the size of the Arcadia would typically need; yet it still maintains a maximum speed of 18.5 knots. a cruising speed of 16.5 knots and has a range of 500nm.
The mention of solar panels shouldn’t put you off; the usually bulky unattractive addition is worked in as a prominent design feature. Not only do they keep the boat moving forward, they form an intrinsic part of the yacht’s discerning, contemporary aesthetic.
All this attention to detail on the exterior is mirrored on the inside. The deckhouse is light and open thanks to the double-layered reflective glass and the luxury modern furnishings are loose pieces, allowing for a flexible layout. Despite the exclusion of a sundeck, all the expected amenities are available on the aft deck; this allows for guests to be together and makes the 85 a superb family yacht.
With four guest cabins: the owner’s cabin, VIP quarters and two twin cabins, in total holding a maximum of 8 guests and 4 crew; the Arcadia makes smart use of its space. There’s also a dining room, which can be opened up to the side deck while the master cabin is a huge space that is decorated in a fittingly clean manner.
Set to be fully unveiled at the Miami Yacht Show later this week, there’s currently no information on pricing for the 85. Arcadia are also producing a 115 and a 135 to add to the fleet although as yet, these two are just concepts.
