Bentley has finally unveiled its newest addition to the world of luxury supercars. The Bentayga is Bentley’s first luxury 4×4, and aims to hit the market early next year. There been much speculation after its concept release in 2012, and the final product is both breathtaking and overtly futuristic, not to mention the fastest ever 4×4, with a top speed of 187 mph.
The exterior follows much the same form as all Bentley’s; bold, brash and in your face, but we’d expect nothing less. The true beauty of this vehicle comes from its technology, something that Bentley has invested £800 million into. The engine, a whopping twin-turbocharged W12, produces 600hp and 664lb ft of torque and is gently controlled by an 8-speed automatic gearbox. What this achieves is a car that is not only incredibly quick off the mark, but smooth too. With the modern driver in mind, its revolutionary technology means that when cruising, half of the engine can shut down to improve fuel efficiency. It is truly incredible.
Looking at the handling of this almost 2.5-ton beast, no expense has been spared to make it handle like a small car, despite its enormity. With 8 interchangeable modes, you’ll be able to pick the perfect ride for you, and the Bentley Dynamic Ride means body lean is a thing of the past.
Of course, no 4×4 would exist without impressive off-road capabilities. Looking to the air-suspension technology, Bentley claims the off-road experience will still remain smooth and luxurious. With a host of gadgets, including hill decent control and roll control, the Bentayga is the frontier vehicle in the ultra luxury 4×4 market.
Other features include a state of the art tow-assist feature, making the towing of trailers as easy as possible, whilst the interior is filled with the highest quality materials to exude luxury from every corner and mimic the flowing wings of the Bentley badge.
