Belgo Centraal – Best Beer and Chips in Town
Words: Gentleman's Journal
Belgo Centraal is part of a chain of 5 Belgian restaurants around London. Famous for their double cooked Frites and extra-ordinary Beers, there is no better place for a get together with the guys.
Belgo number two, opened in April 1995, is a huge 12,000 square foot restaurant split into two separate eating halls; one a 350 seat informal ‘beerhall’, the other a more intimate restaurant. Situated in the heart of Covent Garden, the entrance links Shelton Street to Earlham Street by a bridge that crosses over the kitchens. A lift takes diners down one floor, into the traffic of food runners and rolling barrels, where chefs’ shouts echo around. A busy, bustling restaurant that makes dining a fun, exciting experience.
The selection of beer at Belgo Centraal is truly astonishing, there is a choice of 60 beers, each of which comes in its own unique glass. If you’re not a beer buff you might just choose a beer due to the interesting names of the brews themselves, names like Floris Chocolate and Mongozo Banana are set to intrigue no doubt. However, traditional favourites are also served like Peroni, Stella Artois and Hoegaarden.
The food menu is also extensive, serving a range of classic dishes with steaks, chips, roast chicken, king prawns, crab, duck and a delicious choice of bread as well. The desserts are typical of belgian indulgence, involving a lot of chocolate, crepes and ice-cream. Look no further for a deliciously joyful dinner! Call 020 7813 2233 to book your table.
