What we appreciate most about the Arcadia A96-01, a 30m yacht with more than 400sq m of ‘liveable space,’ is that its core design scheme circumvents the sterile look common across the market. Instead, the fit-out, courtesy of Igor Lobanov, has an elegant, homely feel, drawing heavily upon naturalistic tones, soft furnishings and features that, according to Arcadia, have been influenced by the art deco. There is a strong use of flowing lines, and the sandy hues are offset by metallic accents. The aim, overall, was for ‘the yacht’s spaces [to] merge into the surrounding panorama’. The lyrical feel is also evident in how each area flows easily into the next, and as you move from the action on the main deck towards the bow area, the privacy levels are raised. Sliding doors, rather importantly, allow certain sections to be opened up to the elements.
Five cabins are featured throughout – the owner’s cabin is located in the forward section of the main deck; the remaining four cabins are on the lower deck – and the vessel can reach a top speed of approximately 23–24 knots. Volvo Penta supplied the Assisted Docking system that’s used for mooring operations; Garmin, meanwhile, helped develop the Surround View Camera System, ‘the first 360-degree vision system offering a bird’s eye view using an array of six cameras installed in the hull, which transmit information in real time about the open water around the boat and the distance from any obstacles.’ Finally, the Silent Mode system, rather niftily, ensures around 8–9 hours of peace and quiet.
