App of the week: Twickets
TWICKETS – FREE ON IOS, ANDROID AND MICROSOFT
Twickets is not so much an app, but rather a community for those who want to buy and sell tickets in a reasonable, responsible way. Twickets was founded as a response to ticket ‘touting’, whereby an individual buys tickets for a concert, an opera, a football match or whatever it happens to be and resells them to the public at exorbitant prices.
Throughout the world touting or ‘scalping’ is not illegal in most cases and so Twickets gives people an opportunity to buy and sell tickets in a more ethical and socially conducive way. It’s safe to use and there’s no chance of card fraud as you arrange to purchase the tickets in person, in a public place.
The app is extremely simple to use and has a very simple interface. You can personalise your feed so only events that you would possibly be interested in appear and you can search for tickets in a variety of categories and locations. If any buyer or seller acts unethically they will be banned indefinitely from using the app. Crucially the app prevents gross profiteering from ticket resales, something that has been a problem for centuries.
