Alfred Dunhill’s Voice Speaks Out To Us Again
Words: Gentleman's Journal
By Anna Spooner
Alfred Dunhill’s Voice campaign returns this season with a sensational line up of the best of British. Photographer Don McCullin discusses the stark reality of a history photographing war; Brian Eno, seminal musician and artist, gives his interpretations of luck, success and creativity; and mountaineer Geordie Stewart tells of his experiences at the edge of both nature and human disposition. David Sims’s, who has shot this ‘communication-project’ since its conception in 2011, creates a series of honest and intelligent shorts which capture ideas of human fragility, trapping your own luck, personal legacy and everything in between. What began as a celebration of British achievements has evolved into a campaign which, like the brand itself, continues to challenge and develop our perception of luxury, elegance and British culture. Previous interviewees have included Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Michael Grandage and Sir David Frost, but it is worth noting that the essence of these videos is not ‘celebrity’ but instead ‘celebration’. Through it’s choice of strong British males the Voice campaign reflects the values of Alfred Dunhill and therefore hopes to portray these standards to those who choose the brand.
