, Famed for its dive schools (there are over 12), Utila is an intriguing destination. Its thriving sea life is a big attraction, with exotic fish including sharks being a big attraction to budding divers.

Part of the Exuma Cays, a string of Bahamian islands, Staniel Cay is utterly charming. Boasting an esteemed yacht club – perfect if you want to explore the waters – Staniel Cay is an ideal base, although with its famed swimming pigs and remote villages, you won’t want to leave.

Gavdos is fairly remote, and with only around 50 people living there year round, very small. It’s the southernmost point of Europe, which is an exciting draw although people tend to frequent the island of Crete, which is nearby yet far more populous.
