Words: Charlie Thomas
The pocket watch is somewhat of an enigma in today’s world. Rarely seen and vastly underused, they are a long forgotten method of timekeeping, which they can thank their wristwatch cousins for.
The first pocket watch was commissioned for Queen Elizabeth I in 1571, and their popularity rose until they became commonplace in the mid to late 19th century. When wristwatches were introduced though, their light weight and practicality meant that heavier pocket watches soon became old hat. We want to bring them back though, so here are 5 classic pocket watches for the modern gentleman.
