5 of the best check blazers

5 of the best check blazers

Words: Charlie Thomas

Autumn is the perfect time of year to experiment with your dress. The dip in temperature means that heavier fabrics come into use, which often boast interesting textures and patterns. This allows for a certain amount of creativity in how you pair items together, as opposed to the relative simplicity of just throwing on t-shirt and shorts in the height of summer.

As we touched on in our ‘Gentleman’s Guide to Autumn Trends’, check patterns are going to be more than prevalent this season. If you’re going to purchase just one check garment though, it should be the blazer. As such, we thought we’d delve deeper into this autumn wardrobe essential. Here are five of the best.

UNIQLO

, For simple, quality, slim-fit basics, Uniqlo just can’t be beaten. Their chinos are arguably the best pound-for-pound around, but they also introduce quirkier items from time to time. Their new line of tweed blazers is spot-on and this one, with its navy and grey check, is suitably dandy. At under £70, it proves you can dress like a gentleman on a budget, too.

REISS, , As well as offering quality off-the-peg suits worth buying, Reiss produce outstanding separates that can be inter-changed with ease. Ridiculously versatile, this grey and black check blazer features a strong, padded shoulder, a two button closure, flap pockets and a single vented rear. Pair it with black tailored trousers, Chelsea boots and a crisp white shirt and you’ll be the best dressed chap wherever you go.

GIEVES & HAWKES

, Falling on the more traditional side, this check tweed blazer wouldn’t look out of place on a shooting estate. It’s cut from an impossibly soft Loro Piana wool and features Gieves & Hawkes famous house cut, meaning it will fit like the dream.

BURBERRY, , There’s something inherently smart about navy check blazers, and this Burberry example is no different. It can undoubtedly be worn in more casual settings, yet with its dominant, padded shoulders and tailored fit, it’s most at home in a swanky restaurant somewhere’s in London’s West End.
