Words: Violet
, The fact that we are even writing this article commits us of one of our list, talking about the hot weather. But we just can’t help. The weather is great and we at The Gentleman’s Journal headquarters are very glad of it. We have noticed, however, that there are certain actions that British people follow as soon as the sun comes out. It has always been that way and it always will. Here are 30 Things British people do when the sun comes out.

1. Celebrate, 2. Get an ice cream, 3. Eat said ice cream before it melts all over your hand, 4. Sun bathe without any sunscreen on, 5. Get burnt, 6. Lather up on factor 50+, 7. Get burnt again, 8. Complain about sunburn, 9. Question how people in Spain/Greece/Italy work in this heat, 10. Sweat, 11. Sunbathe in any sliver of sun we can, 12. Talk about the sun to colleagues, 13. Talk about the sun to friends, 14. Taking about the sun to anyone who will listen… and they will because we’re British and we love it, 15. Drink Pimms, 16. Realise how pasty and white we are, 17. Forget that you should wear clothes in public (not acceptable, see What Women Want Men to Wear in the Summer), 18. Head to the nearest park, 19. HEAD TO THE NEAREST BEACH, 20. Try to find a space on the beach, 21. Have a BBQ, 22. Complain about how hot it is, 23. Drink A LOT, 24. Take long lunches, 25. Head to the nearest beer garden (see GJ’s London selections here), 26.
