When purchasing a yacht, the discerning owner usually has three things on his mind; the first is the power of the boat, and where in the world he will deem to take it. The second is the brand history, delighting in the backlog of illustrious owners. And the third is almost certainly it’s party potential. The latter can often mean different things to different owners, but the following three mega-yachts seem to tick most of the boxes that a super-boat owner could desire to wow even the most seasoned partygoer. Cue The Gentleman’s Journal’s pick of the ultimate party yachts in existence.
M/Y Eclipse

Constructed by the Hamburg Boating giants Blohm + Voss, who established their world famous brand in 1877, the M/Y Eclipse is unarguably their most outrageous feat to date. When Roman Abramovich approached the designers in 2010 to build him a new yacht, he asked only one thing of them: to make this the biggest boat in the world. And for four years the 536ft of this 13,000 tonne beast retained this title, until Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan commission his ‘Azzam’ model in 2013. Despite being pipped to the post in size, Abramovich’s vessel still remains at the top of the list for its features, which quite simply beg for the wildest and most mind-blowing parties. With bedrooms for twenty-four guests, two gigantic swimming pools, several Jacuzzis and its own club complete with an ear-bursting sound system and dancefloor, we can only deem to imagine the festivities that unfold aboard this steaming party palace.
Serene

Built in 2011, this boat is available for charter for a measly £3 million. This yacht remains among the most visually stunning in the world, with a silky blue hull and a streamline sail to match the sculptural prowess of Bernini. But don’t be fooled by the name, this powerful beauty is equipped with all the features required for the most monstrous ocean parties. Take the ‘Nemo Room’, an underwater viewing area linked to the top floor by a private lift. The designers have ever so kindly equipped the boat with a helicopter pad and a hangar that, should you choose to leave the chopper at home, transforms into an indoor pool. Beside the outdoor pool there is a wet bar, pizza oven and teppanyaki bar for any first class cuisine to be prepared (or to be prepared for you). And on top of all this, Fincantieri, the designers behind this exquisite liner, have fitted the boat with an aft deck, where guests can party on the outdoor dancefloor at the centre of two bars and a bandstand. Should you have the luxury of boarding this boat, don’t expect an experience that comes anywhere close to her title.
Dubai

Owned by the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this currently stands as the third largest super yacht in the world. With Andrew Wench responsible for the exterior, and Platinum Yachts for the sumptuous interiors, this cruiser is aesthetically invaluable, and built for parties of the most momentous scale. The yacht is equipped with bejewelled, gold-laced interiors and an open glass staircase connecting the luxurious suites to the main body of the boat. The deck holds swimming pools, hot tubs, and copious sunbathing areas, all intact in an air-conditioned enclosure allowing guests to keep cool during all-day revelries. Upstairs and down, this is a ship built with outlandish celebrations in mind.
