Words: Charlie Thomas
Unlike the fashion industry, which changes on a seemingly weekly basis, the world of horology is a rather slow one. This is no bad thing though, and it simply means we can enjoy pleasing trends for longer. One such style is the heritage trend, which has been around for the last year or so. More and more watch brands have adopted it, and now there are numerous stunning pieces that tip their hat to watches of the past. Here are 3 of the best heritage inspired watches.
BAUME AND MERCIER CAPELAND
Baume & Mercier’s Capeland series has garnered plenty of positive praise for their classic, aviation-inspired feel. This particular reference boasts a stunning contrast in the brown leather strap and black face, although the dial is the real star. The vintage font, golden Breguet hands, telemeter and a subtle date window combine to give the piece real character, and we can’t get enough.

LONGINES HERITAGE 1935
The Longines Heritage 1935 is one of our favourite watches of the year. With its fluted bezel and crown, cushion-shaped case and highly legible face, this is one of the best looking timepieces of 2014.

OMEGA DE VILLE TRESOR
Although inspired by a 1940s dress watch of the same name, this Omega is anything but old fashioned. It boasts one of the most advanced movements that the Swiss brand has ever produced. It’s able to resist magnetic forces of up to 15,000 gauss, whilst remaining as accurate as any chronometer on the planet.
