As the traditional backbone of men’s style, tailoring is an area of the closet we rarely tinker with. Straying outside of the conservative grey, navy and black is a boundary most men have yet to cross, although this closes up some rather exciting sartorial avenues. Why not break the mould and consider adding a suit or two in a less conventional colour? These are the 3 alternatives we highly recommend.
BROWN
Ignore the adage “no brown in town”, it’s nonsense and out-dated. A brown number will quickly become a staple in your suiting rotation; it’s versatile and can support a number of accenting colours and is just as appropriate for the boardroom as any more traditional tones. A darker shade of the colour is a more fitting winter option while you can look to lighten it, that’s the fabric and the hue, come the seasonal change.

Burgundy has become the go-to for a number of Hollywood’s leading men for the red carpet, and for good reason. The deep red is a step away from the usual slew of black and while it’s a bit of a braver wear, that shouldn’t put you off.
