First impressions indicate that the new E-Class has just had a facelift, however on closer inspection Mercedes have added some little changes that make a big difference. One thing we are thrilled about is that we say good bye to the four-eyed head lights, and like its saloon brother it has changed to single LED headlights, both an enhancement in looks and technology.
Another noticeable change is the larger and lowered air intakes that give the car a sportier look. After this the noticeable changes end and you will find it hard to spot the slight alterations towards the rear, however this is fine by us.
The new E-Class boasts an all new interior with what seems like an endless array of safety features, which they call “intelligent drive”. This stems from another member of the Mercedes family, the revolutionary S-Class, and the pack includes Collision Prevention Assist (a radar that warns you in order to prevent collisions). The E-Class comes packed with further gadgets to keep you entertained, or to make you angry, whichever way you look at it.
For the sportier type there is expected to be a 5.5 litre twin turbo V8 AMG, which is rumoured to do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and features all the usual AMG trimmings that we have come to know and love.
The new two-door E-Class is expected to reach the UK shores this summer, and in regards to price we reckon you will be looking at around the £33-40,000 mark for the coupe, and £36-46,000 for a soft-top.
