Classic Car of the Week: 1981 Lamborghini Countach 400S

Nothing makes a statement quite like a bright yellow Lamborghini, does it, gents? The Italian automaker revealed the Countach prototype in all its wedgy goodness at the Geneva motor show in 1971. Production ran from 1973 to 1990, by which time 2,049 models had been produced, including this: the 400S – the same model Leonardo DiCaprio wrecked in the Wolf of Wall Street, although his sported fibreglass wheel arches, deep concave rims and an optional V-shaped rear wing.

This particular model, produced in 1981, is a rare right-hand drive example that’s covered no more than 40,000 miles from new. First registered to a Mr Tim Dutton Wooley in 1982, the car was specified with the optional rear wing, a rather fetching shade of pearl yellow and capped off with oatmeal leather interior and a black suede dashboard. Sound like your cup of tea? Sure, it’s not for everyone but it certainly makes a statement, and nobody buys a Lamborghini to blend in, do they?
