For many, myself included, he was the highlight of the Bond films. The whiz who made fire spit from a bagpipe drone, turned an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish invisible, added a laser beam to an Omega watch and created a lethal weapon from a pen – he was the brain behind James’ brawn. I am, of course, talking about the legend that is Q, aka the head of research and development for the British Secret Service.

Most famously played by Desmond Llewelyn, it was his iterations that captured the imagination of every 007 fan time and time again.
