We’ve made many a list on gentlemanly etiquette; from how to be chivalrous to general good manners in any situation, but this is a full list of 10 things that never fail to impress women. Forget supped up sports cars and bragging about the size of your bank accounts, we’re talking about the real things (that you might not have thought of), which never fail to impress women.
1. GOOD MANNERS & OLD FASHIONED ETIQUETTE, Walking curb-side, holding doors, offering seats… you should know the drill, gents.
2. INTELLIGENCE , You don’t need to have a PHD from Oxford, but some kind of intelligence can be a serious turn on, “try to learn something about everything and everything about something,” as Thomas Huxley once said – just as long as it isn’t football or COD, showing a passionate interest in something and having the knowledge to back it up will always impress a woman.
3. SPEAKING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE, It’s no secret that hearing an Italian or French accent come from a man gets most women a little hot under the collar, so brush up on that GCSE language level and you’re guaranteed an impressed woman.
4. RECOGNISING DESIGNER BRANDS, Now you don’t need to become her new GBF, but recognising the double CC on her handbag or the red sole of her shoe will always impress.
5. BEING WELL TRAVELLED, As long as you’re not bragging about it, a man who is well travelled can be one of the most attractive out there. It shows that you’ve experienced new cultures, you’re open to change and hopefully if it all goes well, you’ll be travelling to far flung parts of the world together one day.
6. GOOD STYLE, You don’t have to be the next Steve McQueen, but well cut clothes, nice shoes and a selection of stylish jackets is all you really need to impress a woman in the style stakes.
7. BEING A GOOD COOK, Whether you’re impressing her on a date at home or with brunch the next morning, few things impress a woman like a good cook – and if he clears up after, then even better!
8. BEING CLOSE WITH FAMILY, From kind conversations with their mothers on the phone, to looking out for siblings, it’s always a good sign to a women if you’re close with your family, although keep any freudian-like relations at bay please.
9. CONFIDENCE & SPONTANEITY , You don’t need to be the loudest guy in the room to impress us, or whisk us away on romantic holidays every other week, but natural confidence and spontaneity is always a turn on.
10. BEING GOOD WITH CHILDREN & ANIMALS, Ok yes – it’s a cliché, but a true cliché. If you’re good with children and animals it sets something off in most women which reveals an inner sensitivity that no women can resist.
