The tech world runs at a preposterously high pace, with new releases popping up seemingly on a daily basis. In an effort to help you keep up, we’ve dug through the dirt and brought you the 10 things in tech you need to know this week.
1. Apple Watch’s pricing and release date has been announced
The much awaited official unveiling of the Apple Watch has taken place. It will cost up to £13,500 and will be available next month. Click here for more info.
2. Apple will also release an updated range of MacBooks
, The thinnest and lightest MacBook ever is now available in gold, but it also features a new trackpad, a single USB-C port and brand new design.
3. The HBO network will be added to Apple TV
This is a massive pull for Apple, as the likes of Games of Thrones will be available to view from the streaming service.
4. Solar Plane completes first leg
Solar Impulse are attempting the first-ever round-the-world solar flight. They have just completed their second leg from Oman to India.
5. Apple is joining the Dow
The tech giant will replace AT&T on the Dow Jones Industrial Average on 19th March.
6. Wikipedia is suing the NSA
Wikipedia is suing the NSA over claims its surveillance techniques breach privacy.
7. Uber will create 1 million jobs for women by 2020
A big promise, Uber is pledging that they’ll create 1,000,000 new jobs for women by 2020.
8. Police arrested 57 hackers last week
Hailed as ‘strike week’, British police raided a number of houses, arresting 57 hackers as part of a huge crackdown on cyber crime.
9. Google has released its first large Android update since November
, Lollipop OS has been released, with an innovative new feature called Device Protection that locks down your phone preventing crime.
10. Apple’s new larger iPad may come with a USB port
This will likely please a lot of people, but it goes against Apple’s forward-thinking mindset. USB is a dated technology after all.
