The tech world runs at a preposterously high pace, with new releases popping up seemingly on a daily basis. In an effort to help you keep up, we’ve dug through the dirt and brought you the 10 things in tech you need to know about this week.

1. Innovative 3D printer ‘grows’ objects

Developers of the Carbon3D printer have said how they were inspired by cult film Terminator 2 when conceiving it. The printer uses liquid resin to ‘grow’ objects such as car parts or shoes, in a method that looks similar to the T-1000 robot when it rises from a pool of liquid metal.

2. Nintendo to produce mobile games

The leading gaming company is set to collaborate with Japanese developer DeNA to produce new mobile phone games. This means that the likes of Super Mario, Zelda and Pokemon could all reach your smartphone soon. What’s not to love?

3. Sotheby’s are collaborating with eBay

In an unprecedented move, certain Sotheby’s auctions are to be streamed live on eBay, allowing the site’s enormous online audience the chance to bid on some one-of-a-kind items, including Andy Warhol’s first studio lease, which is estimated to sell for $8,000 – $12,000.

4. Blackberry-owned Secusmart unveils world’s most secure tablet

Based on the Samsung Galaxy 10.5, the Secutablet has been developed with IBM, and it’s said to offer unparalleled security features, appealing to businesses and governments.

5. Google will start reviewing apps before they go on the Play Store

Apple has done this from the get-go, ensuring only the highest quality apps get released. Google have, up until now, allowed anything to go through their store, meaning users had to wade through endless amounts of poorly-made apps. This is all set to change now though…

6. Microsoft will launch Windows 10 in the summer

Details are very much under wraps at the minute, but this could well be the most feature-packed iteration of Windows for years.

7. Apple is developing a subscription TV service

Set to rival Sky, Virgin and the like, you can expect Apple’s TV service to be slick and easy to use. And it will likely be available on everything, from your television to your iPhone.

8. Xiaomi is working on an Apple-rivalling smartwatch

Whilst not big over here yet, Xiaomi is Apple’s biggest rival in the lucrative Chinese market, and they’re working on a cheaper alternative to Apple Watch, which is bound to threaten the Cupertino brand somewhat.

9. Details of Apple’s smartcar may have surfaced

It’s reportedly called the ‘SG5’ and it’s supposed to be ‘well beyond the concept stage’ according to Business Insider. We wait with bated breath…

10. The BBC is making a drama based on best-selling video game ‘Grand Theft Auto’

We know. We’re as shocked as you are. Few details have been released yet other than it will air on BBC Two, but if it’s anything like the video game series it will be violent and controversial – something the BBC generally isn’t.
