10 Most Annoying People on Social Media
Words: Violet
Social media has been around for a while now and, while for many reasons we think it is one of the best things to happen to the 21st century, we can’t help but feel that some people are ruining it. Enter the most annoying people on social media and the trends that they refuse to give up on. We’re betting you can all name a friend guilty of each one of these….
The “Selfie Taker”, The most famous and widespread of all the annoying people on social media. The selfie taker is most dangerous when they are on their own in their bathroom/bedroom/car/beach.
The “Fake”, There are two types of fakers. Those that create fake profiles pretending to be someone famous (I would say you are not fooling anyone but we have just seen that one fake Justin Bieber Instagram account has 143,000 followers so.. perhaps they do) and those celebrities who use a Twitter account to promote their products. They both sucker us in only to be disappointed. Not cool.
The “Vaguebookers”, Such examples as, “Why is it always me” and “Can’t believe that just happened” are classics for the vaguebooker, a person who posts intentionally vague Facebook posts in order to get people’s attention and prompt a concerned response.
The “Unnecessary Checkingin’ers”, Here at The Gentleman’s Journal, we generally have a problem with people that check in. Where it becomes utterly annoying is where the check in is somewhere indeterminate. “Home”, “The Airport” and “The park” are all common culprits.
The “Frequent Traveller”, These are the people that bulk post to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram about their impending travels. A photo of a plane wing, their flight ticket, checking in at the airport. It is always accompanied by a smug status reading, “Off to [enter place]. Bye everyone.” Yes, goodbye, good riddance and please don’t post anything while you are away. Their updates of themselves lying on a beach while you are working in an office at home is almost too much to bare. If you are having such a good time, why are you on Facebook anyway?
The “Creep”, The creep has always been a creep but social media has enabled him another way to do said creeping. This includes commenting on random girls pictures and statuses.
The “Gamer”, Candy Crush Saga, Farmville, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, whatever it might be my interest level in the game and the level you are on is at an affirmative ZERO. If I wanted to play a game on Facebook, I would, you sending me invites is a surefire first step to an unfriend. You have been warned.
The “Blurred Lines”, Every since the invention of social media, there has been a distinct blurring of lines between what is public and what should remain private. Couples sharing every inch of their relationship. Private. Sensitive matters relating to your family/body/self/friends. Also private. Their constant appearance on the PUBLIC social media platforms is highly irritating to say the least.
The “Desperate Instagrammer”, Newsflash: commenting on celebrities Instragram’s saying, “Please Follow Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ isn’t going to make them follow you. Flag you up as a potential stalker, maybe, but follow, no.
The “Self Proclaimed Videographers”, These are the people that insist on posting videos on Instagram. Very occasionally they can look professional and are worth a post but the majority of the time we don’t want to see a drunken 5-second video of you and your friends at a bar.
